Our open spaces are such an important part of healthy communities. We love contributing to the quality of parks & reserves across New Zealand.

Some of our recent projects

  • A lush garden with colorful flowers, trees, and decorative statues.

    Garden Maintenance Schedule Build

Who: Wellington City Council (via Tend Trees)
    Where: Wellington, New Zealand
    Duration: 3 months

The Client’s Challenge: Wellington City Council’s gardening team did not have a structured maintenance schedule. They needed to track and analyse work being undertaken to ensure appropriate resourcing was in place to keep the gardens ‘in spec’ and maximise efficiency.

Our Impact: As a team of three we worked on allocating accurate maintenance times per visit for each of Wellington’s 715 garden assets. We then created a geographically optimised ‘run’ for each of their 7 teams per week for a calendar year

  • A park with a picnic table and wooden fence overlooking a large body of water, with trees and hills in the background under a blue sky with some clouds.

    Parks Maintenance Auditing

    Who: Commercial Client
    Where: North & East Auckland
    Duration: 2 Weeks

The Client’s Challenge: The internal performance of passive mowing teams was below par. Our commercial client required detailed feedback on where problems were occurring both geographically and functionally.

Our impact: An intensive daily audit of completed works of approximately 50x mowing crews was undertaken over a 2-week period. Performance analysis was broken into the various elements, e.g. edging, turf height, damage and fed back to the client on a daily basis. This enabled the client to pick up on trends and highlight problem areas.

  • Track Maintenance & Renewal Coordination

    Who: Auckland Council
    Where: Kaipatiki Local Board
    Duration: 3 months

The Client’s Challenge: To protect both healthy and at-risk Kauri trees, Auckland Council has closed several forested areas and walking tracks across the region. The client required the reopening of tracks within high-use urban forest reserves on Auckland’s North Shore, ensuring they meet MPI track standards to safeguard Kauri health while restoring public access and enjoyment. Before re-opening many of these tracks required maintenance and renewal work to be brought up to standard.

Our impact: We built a maintenance schedule with statement of quantities. We provided an engineers estimate, procured quotes and recommended an appropriate contractor. We then developed a close working relationship with the contractor and between us delivered a year's worth of work within a six month period.

  • Workers on a floating platform removing mangroves within the Manukau Harbour, with muddy shores and a bright blue sky with some clouds.

    Health & Safety Auditing

Who: Project Twin Streams | Commercial Contractors | Mudlarks Volunteer Group
    Where: Whole Auckland Region
    Duration: 9 years, ongoing

The Client’s Challenge: Auckland Council engage both commercial and community contractors to undertake Ecological restoration work. As a PCBU and responsible organisation they must ensure those contractors are operating in a safe way.

Our Impact: Our client has strict health & safety requirements the contractors must adhere to. We assess these in the field & at their depots. We also take a collaborative approach, working with the contractors to come up with solutions which see operators safer than they were before the audit.

  • Flower bed with blooming pink and red flowers, partially empty with some plants and weeds, next to a grassy lawn and a tree, with trees and parked cars in the background.

    Horticultural Maintenance Auditing

    Who: Commercial Client
    Where: North & East Auckland
    Duration: 2 months

The Client’s Challenge: Our client had engaged a subcontractor to undertaken over 1 million square meters of garden maintenance. The subcontractor was perceived to be under performing.

Our impact: Our horticultural experts undertook an intensive daily audit of completed works againsts the contract speciications and reported results daily.

  • Parks Asset Data Collection & Condition Grading

Who: Manukau City Council (via Onsite)
    Where: South Auckland
    Duration: 1 year

The Client’s Challenge: Regular updates of asset data were programmed to enable accurate accounting and management of parks assets.

Our impact: All furniture & fittings were photographed, GPS location acquired, condition graded (according to the NAMS manual), dimensions, colour and location described.
